Some Metro routes are changing
From 4th February 2012 the 10 Airport to Cashmere and 16 Belfast services will no longer operate. To accommodate passengers in these areas some existing services will have new routes and timetables. Read more
Changes to Metro network due to Commercial Contracts
Due to the operating environment brought about by the February earthquake, Red Bus Ltd has made the difficult decision to cease its two commercial services, the 29 Airport and 10 Harewood/ Cashmere, from 4 February 2012. Read media release (pdf 62 kB).
Metro has moved to the Central Station Bus Station
On 25th October 2011 the temporary bus exchanges, set up after the 22nd February earthquake, at Parkside and Bealey Ave closed and the new purpose built Central Station opened at 46 – 50 Lichfield St. With the opening of the station most through routes are reconnected, some trips run later at night and new services have begun. Timetables for all routes in the Greater Christchurch Urban area are available on the timetables and maps page.
Due to ongoing earthquake repair work to the Eastern Suburbs in Christchurch there are some services that continue to be affected by detours, for a list of the latest detours please look at the Route Updates page. Also there are some routes that are no longer running. View a list of these services.
