WAP access
Metro is now WAP enabled. It’s world beating technology and is aimed at making your bus or ferry journey even more effortless.
WAP is short for Wireless Application Protocol.
Typically, fetching a set of bus arrival times for a stop will cost just a few (less than 10) cents. These network operator charges will appear on your monthly account or be deducted from your prepaid balance.
The bus-stop numbers are 5-digit number printed in bold black characters on a white background. They are located on the bus-stop sign and are also able to be accessed from the Real Time Map on this website.
Here’s what to do:
- Navigate your phone to http://wap.metroinfo.org.nz. If you have not used your phone's browser before, try looking for 'services', 'internet', 'surfing' or 'browsing' on your phone. The method of entering bookmarks varies between phones - for a Nokia 6310 do the following:
- Click the 'Menu' softkey

- Click 'Options' and select 'New Bookmark'
- Enter: 'http://wap.metroinfo.org.nz', click OK
- Enter: 'Metroinfo', click OK
- Your bookmark has now been added - press the green phone button to try it out.
- Follow the 'Select Bus Stop' link
- Enter the number of the stop where you will catch your bus
- View the estimated arrival times (ETA) of the next buses approaching the stop
- You can update the bus arrival information using the 'Refresh' link.
- You can create a Bookmark which will appear on your Metroinfo home page for each stop you frequently use: Follow the 'Bookmark' link, enter a useful name (e.g. 'Home' or 'Work') and follow the 'Ok' link.
