Where is Metro taking you?

The joint Environment Canterbury and Christchurch City Council Metro Strategy for 2006-2012 is out now. Read about where Metro will be taking you in the future.

The Metro Strategy details how we are going to meet the vision for public transport in Christchurch and increase passenger trips to 25 million by 2015/16. With an increase in the Christchurch population occurring every year, high car ownership and an increase in traffic growth leading to more congestion and longer commuting times the Metro Strategy details the top priorities for Environment Canterbury and the Christchurch City Council in dealing with these challenges as well as our achievements to date. Expanding the bus exchange, implementing bus priority and using alternative fuel technologies in the bus fleet are just some of the many activities you wanted us to deliver over the coming years. Much remains to be done in order to deliver a world-class passenger transport system into the future and to meet our patronage target but, this strategy aims to successfully meet these challenges.
