The existing Christchurch Metro Strategy was adopted by Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury in 2006. It sets out a range of targets to improve public transport based on community suggestions. This resulted in many improvements to the Metro public transport system in Christchurch including the first bus priority corridor along Papanui/Main North Road, bike racks on 12 bus routes and a new passenger lounge on Colombo Street.
It is now time to review the Metro Strategy to set new targets for the future and expand the scope to include the entire Greater Christchurch area (Rangiora, Woodend, Kaiapoi, Waikuku, Lincoln, Rolleston, Burnham). Brochures are being delivered to all households in Greater Christchurch from Wednesday 3 March 2010 so you can have your say about how public transport should be improved in the future.
Residents can send in suggestions on the freepost feedback form in the brochure, or email comments to metrostrategy@ecan.govt.nz. Comments are due by Friday 16 April 2010 and all responses received by then go in the draw to win one of ten double movie passes and $20 Metro vouchers.
You can save the pdf feedback form to your computer, fill it in electronically and attach it to an e-mail to metrostrategy@ecan.govt.nz, or you can print the pdf file and send it to us by freepost. A webform is now available for you to submit your feedback on-line.
