Future developments
Over the coming weeks, along the pedestrian walkways you will also find.
- The Metroinfo Kiosk
- Purpose built Portacom waiting rooms and public toilets
- Real Time Information screens telling you the time of all bus arrivals
- Platform bollards showing you where each bus will pick up from
- Pedestrian crossing between the middle of both walkways providing safe travel between walkways
- Covered bus shelters with built in seating
- Tactile pavers for sight impaired passengers indicating bus platforms and boarding areas along each walkway
Bikes on Buses
No bikes will be loaded onto bike racks at the Central Station, as buses can not park to load and unload with a bike onboard. Please ensure you remove your bike before the bus arrives into the Central Station. If you are unsure where this is please ask your driver. If you would like to put your bike onto a rack please make sure you hop on the bus at the next bus stop on your route after the bus has left the Central Station.
Link Shuttle
From Tuesday 25 October the free Link shuttle will no longer be operated. Its purpose was to provide a connection between the two temporary exchanges for passengers. As Metro no longer requires this, the Link will not operate.
Yellow City Shuttle (Free)
The Yellow shuttle that ran around the city before the earthquakes servicing the Casino, Colombo St and Christchurch Polytechnic (CPIT) will no longer run.
