Environment Canterbury along with Leopard Coachlines and Christchurch Bus Services are continuing to trial cycle racks fitted to buses.
The Heathcote bus service, number 35 has bike racks fitted to all buses on this route and enables people to carry their bicycles through the Lyttelton tunnel.
The following routes have buses fitted with racks that run at specific times.

- No. 21 - Ilam-Mount Pleasant
- No. 13 - Redwood-Hoon Hay
- No. 90 - Rangiora Direct
- No. 92 - Rangiora via Woodend and Waikuku
- No. 912 - Rangiora – Kaiapoi via Woodend
- No. 913 - Rangiora - Kaiapoi via Waikuku
Racks can take two bikes at a time on a first come first serve basis. There is no extra charge to put your bike on the bus.
The responsibility for loading and unloading a bike is the cyclist’s own.
Cyclists are unable to take their bikes into the city Bus Exchange and must unload or load their bike one stop before or after the Exchange.
Racks carry bikes with wheels larger than 16” diameter and the maximum insured value of any cycle on the rack is $1500.
