How much does it cost to catch a bus in Timaru?

For just $1.50 you can travel anywhere within the Timaru zone, on any of the Glentiti, Grantlea, Marchwiel and South End services.

You can purchase cash fares from your driver as you board the bus. Fares for children under the age of 15 are $1.00. Secondary school students over 15 and under 20 are also entitled to half fare on presentation of a Can Do card, or wearing a school uniform.

Fares to and from Temuka cost $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.

Multi-trip tickets

Buy a multi-trip ticket and you will get 12 trips for the cost of 10 - that's two free trips. Multi-trip tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be used on any of the four Timaru bus services. You can purchase a multi-trip ticket from your bus driver.

Monthly passes

Monthly passes entitle you to unlimited travel on any of Timaru's four bus services during the calendar month displayed on the pass. Monthly passes cost just $50.00 for adults and $30.00 for children and can be purchased from Richies.

Travelling tip

Ask for a transfer ticket when you purchase your cash fare or use you multi-trip ticket and you'll receive a transfer ticket, which entitles you to a free transfer or return trip within 4 hours of ticket purchase.
